We had quite the Thanksgiving! First Taylor came home from her pre-school party with the Indian name "Pink Puppy". Pretty sure she picked that one! Anyway... for Thanksgiving we trekked down to Tejas to be with family. The drive to Del Rio was, well to be honest, kinda killer. At least in that short of amount of time. But it was so fun once we got there! It was fun for me to drive through El Paso- I still feel so at home there! We stopped at Lotaburger in Las Cruces and Taylor laughed so hard she choked on a fry and puked in front of everyone! To the bathroom we went and we cleaned her up as best we could and kept driving! We arrived late on Wednesday night.
The next day was spent cooking, bantering about the Cowboys and enjoying our morning. The kids love being with their cousins! We hardly heard from them! Joni and Tristan's house was an awesome host house. We did some Black Friday shopping that night and came home to some yummy leftovers. The next morning the boys went golfing and we were just eating breakfast enjoying our day until... we glance outside to see 2 big dogs tearing apart Trista's little kitty!!! The kids were traumatized and I found myself running after the dogs in my mother-in-laws shoes (that were entirely too small) and a broom. When the dogs turned on me I was pretty defenseless to say the least. The kitty was already dead anyway. So sad! We discussed it with the owners of the dogs. He felt terrible. I totally cried with Trista (we all did) it was so sad! To make up for it we went and saw Frozen and LOVED it. A new favorite!
Other than that trauma, we had a wonderful time. When it was time to go we packed up and headed to El Paso for the night. We arrived at nearly 8pm and mentioned to Keith and Joy that Jarom had never been to Cattlemans... well thats all it took! Off we went! We loaded up the car and made the 25 minute drive to Fabens! I love how spontaneous Keith and Joy are! Jarom rather enjoyed his "cowboy steak" and the kids liked the ranch. We loaded up on Chicos and queso from Vista Market the next morning and headed home. On the way home we were just exhausted. Lydi threw up in Tucson all over the car and we found ourselves back in the public restroom cleaning up puke! (thank goodness for boys with tough stomachs). We made it home and I'm thankful for that! I am also so thankful for my family and all the blessings we have! We are living the dream and couldn't be happier with where we live and what we are doing. Its a good life!
